'Pripyat'
Pripyat, Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, Ukraine, September 2007
The
view from the top of a 16-storey apartment block over the abandoned
city of Pripyat. The roads and spaces between buildings are now quite
heavily forested and overgrown.
Unlike
Chernobyl, which was an old town, Pripyat was a new city, constructed
to house the nuclear plant's workforce. It was considered very successful,
and many other late-Soviet urban plans followed Pripyat's layout.
