Stray Light Live, Summer 2009

Stray Light update, December 2009

"Off the beat, or not at all."

We're working hard on new songs at the moment, so there's not much live activity to report. We will, though, be putting on an event called 50 Months of Good Luck on the 19th December at the Kings Arms. This will feature music from ourselves (probably debuting new material), Fat Elvis, Serpentine Pad and others. Also, as it will be the festive season, there will be free homemade mince pies for the first 50 people through the doors!

We also have a song on a new compilation of Manchester bands released on Double Ghost. This is a free release to promote Manchester music.

And, finally, the new limited edition Waves Broken CD has been selling briskly - don't delay ordering if you've been thinking about it, they won't last forever! Only £6 inc. delivery over at Doubtful Sound.

Next gigs:

19th November: The Bay Horse, Manchester - CANCELLED
8th December: The Retro Bar, Manchester - TBC
19th December: The Kings Arms, Salford.

Our previous CD, Careers, can be ordered for only £6 via the Doubtful Sound site. A list of other stockists can also be found there.

Some bands we've played with:

Bardo Pond - hypnogogic layered haze from Philly.
Do Make Say Think - fine Canadian post-rock.
Stars of the Lid - tonal drones from somewhere in the ether between Texas and Belgium.
Shalabi Effect - Eastern-influenced improv from Montreal.
Health - shamanistic noise from LA.
Kin - Hark at the goat-voiced girl...
Serpentine Pad - Panic!

Some sample MP3s from Waves Broken, feel free to download and share:

'And Victor Turned' [4.3mb]
'Routine Rabbit' [2.7mb]
'Oubliette' [3.9mb]

And some from Careers:

'Hearing Shapes' [6.3mb]
'Ckpunka' [7.6mb]
